Research Priorities in Tropical Biology - Plenary and Workshop

Research Priorities in Tropical Biology - Plenary and Workshop The ATBC invites tropical biologists from around the globe to join us in the third and final workshop organised to identify and disseminate research priorities in tropical biology. With funding from the National Science Foundation, we have held open workshops at the two preceding annual meetings (Bangalore and Panama City). These have been interspersed with smaller retreats to articulate the fields of research and research questions that require heightened attention and discuss how tropical biological research can best address timely environmental concerns. ATBC believes that if tropical biologists can develop a unified research agenda, we have the opportunity to harness greater resources in terms of research funding, improved tropical scientific facilities, better access to data and its dissemination, and advanced opportunities for education and outreach.

On Wednesday afternoon, 9 July 03, the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation (ATBC) will convene a half-day session to discuss the priorities that have been articulated for the next 5, 20, and 100 years in the field of tropical biology and conservation. At the meeting we will review the draft documents created by past work on this topic. After the incorporation of the meeting's discussions into the drafts, a final document will be published and disseminated to research groups, funding agencies, and environmental agencies around the world.

The programme and the abstracts for the oral sessions is available as a zipped doc file and also as a pdf file.
